One tough Week

Here is Charlie after his hardest week yet... obviously not fazed by the trauma. Charlie started coughing a week and a half ago (Friday night) and by Monday we had him at the doctors office. Dr. Jenny diagnosed him as having brociolitis. She told us to keep an eye on his breathing which we did and, as a result, we rushed to the hospital at 3:30 Tuesday morning. To our surprise they admitted him and the Vander Houwens spent the next two nights at the Children's Hospital satellite at St. Joe's. We came home on Thursday with oxygen which we finally got to stop using this Monday when Charlie saw Dr. Jenny again and she tested his oxygen levels while eating and sleeping. He passed his test. Although this was all very stressful Charlie did well. Infants with RSV (which is the virus he had) usually wind in the hospital for 2 to 7 days... he was there for two. He is a strong little guy... well not so little... his weighed in at 14lb 11oz on Monday.

Below are a few pics from the hospital as well as of his new trick... rolling from his belly to his back. He hasn't rolled from his back to his belly yet - I don't think he has much motivation to try - he likes being on his back.

This last picture is of Charlie's magic toe (the pulse ox)

Now for my latest trick...
